Welcome to our team! At Amazon, we call your first day on the job "Day 1."

Learn more

When you start the application, you register your account and enter your contact information, and answer a couple of questions about your education. You’ll complete an online assessment, select your preferred shift, and choose a date and time for attending a New Hire Event. Then, you’ll get a contingent job offer. Do not quit your current job until you have an official start date, which will be in the offer letter you’ll receive after you pass the pre-employment screenings.

Tip: Many candidates find completing the online assessments to be easier with a laptop or desktop than on a phone.

Attend your new Hire Event on the day and time it's scheduled. Bring proof of your identity and employment eligibility when you come. You’ll learn more about the job, take your badge photo for your Amazon ID, which you’ll receive at your New Hire Orientation, and do your pre-employment drug test and background check. You don’t get paid to go to a New Hire Event—it’s part of the application process.

Tip: Don't chew gum during the new hire event since it could cause you to re-take the drug test.

At the orientation, you'll get your badge and attend a presentation where you’ll learn about what it’s like to work at Amazon, workplace safety, and proper attire. You’re paid to attend your New Hire Orientation.

The New Hire Orientation may happen on your first actual day of work, so come prepared. Wear the proper attire: close-toed shoes, no jackets or hoodies with drawstrings, no long necklaces, no hoop earrings, and have long hair pinned up or in a ponytail.

Tip: If you have questions about anything presented during the orientation, don't hesitate to ask!

Welcome to the Amazon team! We're happy to have you. We strive to maintain an environment where employees can learn, adapt, and excel. Amazon believes everyone should have the opportunity to learn new skills and build their career. You'll discover opportunities to grow through our Amazon Career Skills, Career Choice, and A2Tech programs.

Tip: Wear comfortable shoes and don't forget to bring your badge!
